seattle metropolitan bride & groom – first look 2014

Last week I had the pleasure of doing flowers (and some paintings!) for A Kurant Event’s gorgeous space at First Look, an event hosted by Seattle Met Bride & Groom. Our space was on the sunny roof deck of Fremont Foundry; and featured awesome furniture from Vintage Ambiance and fabulous paper (and the cutest table number ever!) from Kerri Efendi Designs.

We wanted to create something bright, summery, and loungey. Megan Keller of A Kurant Event put together a fun Moroccan inspired lounge with rugs, poufs, pillows, lanterns etc. I painted a canvas photobooth backdrop and attached flowers (of course!). We tied our table in with a runner I painted to match the backdrop, and then used flowers in bright sunset shades of coral, orange and fuchsia.

That cute picture of me and Megan is from Matthew Land, a super-uber talented Seattle photographer that I’d been dying to meet. He just does light like nobody else. Thanks for the great pic!

megan + aaron at flying horseshoe ranch

This sweet, beautiful wedding will always be one of my favorites. The bride is wedding planner Megan Keller of A Kurant Event, and I’ve worked with her for years here in Seattle. After spending a lot of nights together on loading docks at 2 am, you get to be pretty good friends! It felt so special to contribute to and celebrate her big day (and let’s be honest…finally get to dance at a wedding!) Being a wedding planner, Megan had seen it all. She really wanted something unique and different, and they found the perfect spot at Flying Horseshoe Ranch.

Megan planned the flowers and decor with another dear friend, Christiane Zweifler of Flora Nova, and then I got to jump in and help with the fun part! (See – this just keeps getting better!) I spent a couple lovely days in her gorgeous studio cranking out centerpieces, weaving flowers through hanging chandeliers and producing all the other goodies we whipped up for Megan and Aaron. It sort of made me want to rent a HUGE workspace and invite all of my Seattle colleagues to work in the same space because we had so much fun together!

After a fun little road trip over to the Ranch, we installed everything in some drizzle that stopped just in time for the celebration. And then the party started! Megan walked down the aisle to a lot of whoops and hollers; cocktail hour included a mechanical bull; dinner was the best BBQ I’ve had in these parts; and all of us wedding peeps that usually have to watch guests dancing boogied all night while Austin Beaver worked the turntable. To top it all off, there was no loading dock at 2 am, but a cozy teepee!

Christiane has more gorgeous photos on her blog, and the wedding is featured in the lastest issue of Seattle Bride.

junebug’s best bouquets of 2013

One of my favorite bouquets from 2013 seems to be a favorite elsewhere…I was so happy to see it on Junebug Wedding’s list of their favorite bouquets of 2013! Here it is in all it’s glory, captured by Adrian Busse for Belathee Photography. It was a cheerful, sweet mix of anemones, tweedia, garden roses, scabiosa, chamomile, and deer fern. I can’t wait to show you the rest of this wedding, but it’s top secret for now while awaiting publication. But it’s going to be worth the wait…it might just be my favorite ever!

J.Crew bridal sale!

Just a quick heads up! J.Crew has put ALL bridal gowns, accessories, and bridesmaid dresses on sale for 25% off, now through March 3. I might do a little shopping myself…I mean, check out those grey stripes! And the middle gown below is a beaded shift, so reminiscent of the 1920s style that is going to be huge again this summer. Looks like it might just be time to get your girls to finally commit to a dress!
